Campania, Schlein and De Luca meet for the regional elections: "Towards Roberto Fico's candidacy."

Center-left
No "vetoes or prejudicial positions," according to a statement from the Nazarene. "A positive and fruitful climate, the goal is to ensure stability in a strategic region." The governor also met with Giuseppe Conte.

The path is now apparently clear for Roberto Fico to run as a candidate for the broader center-left in the upcoming regional elections in Campania . This is what emerged in recent hours after a meeting between Democratic Party Secretary Elly Schlein and Campania Regional President Vincenzo De Luca , or at least that's what the media is saying. The meeting took place in Rome at the Nazareno, the party's headquarters.
"During the meeting," the statement reads, "held in a positive and productive atmosphere, we took stock of the situation ahead of the upcoming regional elections. It was agreed upon the need to focus first and foremost on the government's agenda, building on the important work accomplished in recent years in Campania. The goal is to continue ensuring stability in such a strategic region for the country, in the exclusive interest of the citizens of Campania."
“It was also agreed that, starting from a shared consensus on the program, in harmony with the local communities, we can and must create the conditions for a final synthesis aimed at identifying, without vetoes or prejudicial positions, the presidential candidate capable of representing and synthesising the entire progressive area.”
De Luca served four terms as mayor of Salerno before two at Palazzo Santa Lucia. Last April, the Constitutional Court ruled " unconstitutional " the amendment to the Campania Region's electoral law that allowed the president to run for a third term. The decision applied to all ordinary-statute regions. The governor had already met with Five Star Movement leader Giuseppe Conte , who had pledged his support.
